DrinksBest Nightlife Chapel Tavern
What is going on in that brick building that was formerly known as Mr. O’s? Is it open? Is it being renovated?
Go on. Take a chance. Duck into the Chapel Tavern and have a drink, we did.
Owner Duncan Mitchell and his friends and colleagues renovated a majority of the place on their own. What was once buried below layers of cigarette smoke and plaster is now a kickin’ Reno bar. The Chapel Tavern is another example of locals reinvigorating the neighborhoods just south of downtown.
Mitchell traveled to New York and San Francisco brainstorming ideas for his new tavern. The bar has an urban feel but has deer antlers on the wall. The red pool table and rusty steel sign that you see as you enter give the Chapel Tavern a unique atmosphere.
The Chapel Tavern boasts a huge selection of imported bottled beers, uncommon wines and high-quality single malts. The handmade sweet and sour mixers and other high quality ingredients separate this bar from the pack. One who orders a Bud in the Chapel Tavern is clearly missing the boat. Looking for something different? Try the Asian Flight, a sake based beverage. Local DJs Ian and Terri spin vinyl on Thursday nights with an eclectic mix of music.
