The Black and White Superball bounces into Reno for New Years Eve

Champagne and Bacon brings it’s annual New Years Eve Party to Reno this year with the highly anticipated Black and White Superball at the newly remodeled and beautiful venue THE GREAT ESCAPE. Converging artists from across the West Coast, Northern Nevada is in for a treat as Champagne and Bacon proudly brings breakbeat wizard TIPPER for his debut performance in the area. Also on the bill is Bay Area producer Bass Cadet, local hip hop act Black Rock City All-Stars, burlesque troupe Bohemian Burlesque, Tahoe favorites Bim Tim, Hamm FM, DJ Shane and RV.
While festivities abound on New Years Eve in Reno, Champagne and Bacon always takes a different approach in planning its end-of-the-year extravaganza. Always easy to find drink specials, but finding high quality entertainment seems to be secondary in the Biggest Little City. This year, Champagne and Bacon is combining all of Tahoe and Reno into one epic event to be held at the beautifully renovated Great Escape (formerly Supper Club Zulu in the SportsWest Shopping Center at Mt Rose Street and S Virginia). An early burlesque show by Bohemian Burlesque begins the night in a homage to the former building’s use, as the troupe is provided a proper stage to show off it’s unique take on burlesque.
Headlining the event is the infamous breakbeat and midtempo master Tipper in his Reno debut. “We’ve been trying to book him for four years,” says Steve Emmerich of Champagne and Bacon, “he only picks very specific events and promoters to play for….so this is big for us.” Those unfamiliar with Tipper’s music will find him as the initial driving influence for such performers such as Bassnectar, The Glitch Mob and the entire mid-tempo psychedelic breaks movement that has enveloped the United States. Performing only about 12 dates a year makes this booking of Tipper monumentally special.
Bass Cadet from San Francisco Bay Area will be making his encore performance after stealing last years show at Tahoe. This producer and DJ’s sets include a large portion of self-produced material.
Rising stars The Black Rock City All-Stars will be bringing the full-on party element to the event, as their talent and draw gets larger and larger with every performance. Reeling still from amazingly well-received gigs this year at Burning Man, Reno Decompression and more, this will be their biggest yet.
Coming down the mountain for this event are Tahoe favorites Bim Tim, Hamm FM and DJ Shane (the latter two will be performing a tag-team set). All of these talented producers and DJs have been turning heads continuously across the West Coast.
Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door, available at The Melting Pot (Reno), Joby’s (Truckee), Rainbow Doorways (Kings Beach), Pass It On Thrift (Tahoe City), Mad About Music (South Lake Tahoe) and www.inticketing.com. VIP is available in a variety of forms and prices by emailing champagneandbacon@yahoo.com for info. The event is 21+ and runs from 9:30pm-4:00am.
