EatsDining Review Sushi 7
Sushi 7, located in the old Thai Royal location on Kietzke, next to Moana, is one of the newer sushi places to grace the Reno area. When you first walk in, it looks like other sushi joints in the city, with a bar to sit around as well as around fifteen high-rise tables to choose from if you’re looking for something a bit more personal.
It’s fairly plain on the inside. Basically, it’s white and black, with a few pictures and a television that plays sports on mute in the background. If you remember Ace of Base then enough has been said about the music. However, the waitresses and sushi chefs are very, very nice. They want you to feel welcome, and they act accordingly. I ordered all you can eat, and sadly, wasn’t incredibly pleased with the outcome. The price was good, at $17.99 for dinner, but the quality of the fish that day wasn’t what I had hoped for.
My friend got an order of salmon, and wasn’t able to cut through it with his chopsticks. The Sake was closer to cold than warm, and the house Chardonnay was equally displeasing. Also, the sushi pieces in the long rolls were quite small. The San Francisco long roll was fairly good, about the same as anywhere else in Reno, but the spicy tuna wasn’t quite up to par in comparison.
Although the service here is wonderful (which can’t be said for a lot of places in the city), this restaurant is your standard hit-or-miss Reno sushi joint…not so good, not so fresh and not something that you’re going to write home about when you leave.
