Dressage in the Sierra is scheduled Sat. July 18 and Sun. July 19 at Franktown Meadows Equestrian Facility at 4200 Old Highway 395 in Washoe Valley, NV.
Dressage is a French term meaning “training” and it’s designed to develop the horse’s natural athletic ability and willingness to be attentive and work with his rider. It’s the process of guiding a horse through a series of complex maneuvers by slight movements of the rider’s hands, legs and weight and it’s considered by many to be the ballet of the horse world.
“It’s beautiful to watch, especially the musical freestyle rides,” said Lynne Garnett, president of Franktown Meadows Equestrian Facility.
Spectators can watch the event for free from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sat. July 18 and Sun. July 19 at Franktown Meadows, a state-of-the-art equestrian facility with event arenas, boarding and professional instruction on 41 acres in Washoe Valley.
