La Vecchia

In a boundless ocean of potential places to get Italian food, one name stands out in the Reno area: La Vecchia. La Vecchia has been providing traditional and progressive Italian cuisine for almost 20 years, and has in that time earned–through appetizing delicacies–a very loyal clientele. La Vecchia opened its doors in 1991 in downtown Reno on Sierra between First and Second Street. Since moving to the current location on the corner of Moana and South Virginia, La Vecchia has stepped up through excellent cuisine and service to become one of the biggest names in Reno for Italian.
La Vecchia is run by the owner/chef Alberto Gazzola who hails from a town called Varese in Italy where he grew up working in kitchens from the age of seventeen. When first opened, La Vecchia was known as La Vecchia Varese, which means “old town Varese” but has since come to be known as simply La Vecchia. From this region of Italy is where Chef Alberto’s masterful cuisine like Veal Emiliana, fresh daily risotto made to order or any number of in-house-made raviolis, gnocchi and pastas originate. The beautiful dining room and extensive selection of cuisine all prepared in-house makes La Vecchia a unique and satisfying dining experience.
