Local Event Reno River Festival 2008

In 2003 the Truckee River Whitewater Park at Wingfield Park was constructed.  The Whitewater Park has put Reno on the map and help set the path for the Reno River Festival, now in its fifth year.  The Reno River Festival is a three day family friendly event in downtown Reno.  This year event producers are expecting to draw 40,000 fans and spectators to the event.  In the years past the Reno River Festival was partially funded by the RSCVA, which decided to put the event on the market.  Local entrepreneurs from Fluid Concepts and Seismic Events formed Reno River Festival LLC and became the new owners of the event.  This event draws world class whitewater competitors to downtown Reno for fierce competition.  The event includes professional and open freestyle and slalom boatercross kayaking competitions, an adventure run called “Run Amuck,” food and beer gardens, and local live music on stage at Wingfield Park Amphitheater.    Take some time and attend the Reno River Festival, there will be all sorts of booths to check out.  Take some time to learn more about boater culture on Reno.  Check out the live music lineup in the beatz section of Reno Passport.
