Local Events Reno Balloon Race

The Great Reno Balloon Race celebrates the joy of flight while providing a free dramatic public display of colorful balloons.  The event is administered by a non-profit group that coordinates with key sponsors to ensure the event continues to happen annually.  Dawn patrol is a trademark at the Great Reno Balloon Race.  Balloon Race veterans agree that the early rise is worth it, as the show features a handful of balloonists who are qualified to fly in the dark. At sunrise, atmospheric conditions change drastically as the sun begins to rise. Balloonists glow, twinkle and fly along with choreographed music. Beginning at 5:00 am on Saturday and Sunday, balloons will illuminate the sky catching the teary-eyed spectators making their way to the launch field.  Remember that parking is limited at Rancho San Rafael Park but you can park in the North Lot at the University of Nevada, Reno located just east of the park.
