Allow us to introduce to you the newest, most light-hearted and fun Yoga practice in town: AcroYoga. This 4-year-young practice, based out of Berkley, CA took the wisdom of traditional Yoga, the therapeutics of Thai massage and the playfulness of acrobatics to create an experience that reaches out to all people. It is a group and partner practice consisting of using your partner’s body weight to balance, stretch and relax your muscles, in order to develop strength and flexibility. A major component of AcroYoga is trust. It is encouraged throughout the practice to communicate with your partner, and trust in caring for each other. As it turns out, there are only 70 certified instructors internationally, and two of them are right here in Reno. Anastasia Bobadilla (who recently returned from additional training in Thailand) and Jowee Halliday are an enthusiastic team, offering classes at Achieve Fitness (600 S. Center St) and the Yogic Lounge (100 N. Arlington). AcroYoga honors the three traditions from which it grew, but requires no previous experience in these practices to have a surprisingly successful and inspirational first class. Catch these girls flying at Wingfield Park when the weather gets warm. They’ll be giving demonstrations and answering any questions you may have. RP Tip: Acro classes are offered at Achieve Fitness on Wednesdays from 7:30-8:30pm. Go to achievefitness.us for complete schedule. Also, stop by the brand new Yogic Lounge (across the hall from Se7en Teahouse) for their Acro schedule. Visit The yogic Lounge online at http://www.theyogiclounge.com/
