New Reno Basketball Team

Reno Bighorns

The biggest little city keeps getting bigger. I’m talking about our newest addition to the world of sports–and it’s not the one you’re thinking about. Reno is now proud to host the Bighorns, an NBA development team for the Sacramento Kings and the New York Knicks. The mascot is a nod to our very own state mammal, the Big Horn Sheep, and the colors reflect the natural beauty of Tahoe and the Sierras.

The $10 base ticket price is comparable to seeing a first-run movie, so everyone can enjoy the luxury of a professional level basketball game, and the fun is well within the budget of your average family outing. Even courtside seats are unlikely to break the pocket book at $75 a game. The Bighorns will call the Reno Events Center home and the venue, downtown off of Center Street, provides a fantastic backdrop, as well as a wonderful opportunity to draw local crowds during the tourism ‘off’ season. Be sure to check out the website: www.nba.com/dleague/reno and get your tickets early for the season opener, November 29th when Jay Humphries, former Phoenix Suns assistant couch, will lead the Bighorns in their first contest against the Bakersfield Jam.

Win tickets to a Bighorns game by listening to the Reno Passport Report radio show on Wednesday’s from 12 to 1 p.m. with Mel on 100.9FM KRZQ. We welcome the Bighorns to Reno.
