Nightlife Music Review Yonder Mountain String Band Crystal Bay
Jam-grass invaded the Crystal Bay Club for two nights of Yonder Mountain String Band on April 23 and 24, 2008. If you have not been to an American progressive bluegrass show, make this your first. You will not be let down. I have seen Yonder in casino showrooms and at outdoor music festivals and they always bring their A game. The four-piece quartet included the mandolin, banjo, guitar and stand-up bass. Yonder, from Colorado, is well respected in the jam band community and can crank out late-night sets. They have gained momentum and developed a loyal bluegrass and jam-band following. Yonder is a touring band, often booking multiple nights in a row at venues such as the Fillmore, Red Rocks and the Fox Theater in Colorado. Yonder Mountain String Band allows fans to record the live performances they attend. Yonder sounds a lot like Hot Buttered Rum and Railroad Earth. Check out their music at www.myspace.com/yondermountainstringband.com. The crowd was full of shoeless roadies.
