Organic Uncorked brought to you by Nevada Econet

The Uncorked Organic Wine and Local Food Tasting will be held on July 18, 2009 from 6-9pm at Moana Nursery on Moana Lane. Tickets are on sale now at Moana Nursery, DISH Café, and online at www.nevadaeconet.org. The event pairs organic wine with local food appetizers, while allowing for a night of intimate relations with community members and sustainability partners. The event is Nevada EcoNet’s fundraiser, and includes a Silent Auction to benefit Nevada EcoNet. “We are not only raising funds to help Nevada EcoNet continue its operations throughout the year, we are also promoting consumer support for Organic and Local products,” said Kris Hansen, Executive Director of Nevada EcoNet.

Southern Wine and Spirits is sponsoring the event again this year, as is Moana Nursery, and Dish Café. Other sponsors include Silver Sage Center for Family Health, Bombard Renewable Energy, and Reno News and Review. But the event will be anything but a repeat of last year. We are lining up a great selection of local artists to play music, we are also hosting the local farmers and other members of the Slow Food Reno chapter to give information and advice, and otherwise educate participants.

This year Uncorked is becoming part of the NV EcoNet Erase Your Trace program, with waste reduction efforts that include recycling and composting through Full Circle Compost, as well as the commitment to use all compostable materials for disposable products.

The Uncorked Organic Wine and Local Food Tasting is important to our sustainability efforts because:
