With school back in session and the end of summer nearing downtown Reno is also undergoing a few changes. If you have not heard, Divine Ultra Lounge has changed hands and is now under new ownership and management. It is now called Divine, and it got a subtle facelift along the way. I sat down this month with the new General Manager, Ben Egbert, to talk about the new name and what to expect.

RP: How did you guys come into buying and taking over Divine?
BE: We have been looking for the right venue for some time but hadn’t come across anything that felt like the right fit. Then one day the previous owners were looking to sell and it was a great location, price and the right time for us as well. Divine had a strong look and foundation and we were able to take it over and add our own experience and personality to it to make it even better.

RP: You guys dropped the Ultra Lounge from the name so that it is just Divine now, but what are some of the other changes that customers will notice?
BE: Appearance wise we have opened up the downstairs seating area by adding an outdoor seating area with heaters and got rid of the tall back lounge seats and put in low, comfy couch style seats so that people are able to mingle, socialize, and make eye contact from across the room. We are also putting in flat screen TVs and adding more visual elements to the walls. One of the most noticeable changes will be that the dress code is no longer strict and there is never a cover charge. We want people to be able to come in and have a good time and not be worried if they are wearing the right dress shoes! This isn’t a pretentious night club, it is a place to come grab drinks with friends and dance the night away!

RP: What kind of drink specials do you offer?
BE: Our happy hour is $3 wells and domestic and $5 appletinis, lemon drops and cosmos so that people can come unwind and relax after a long day at work. We also have $2 Tuesdays where you can get $2 wells, domestics and coronas. Another great drink promotion we are running is 2 for 1 drinks with any Riverside movie stub.
RP: That’s a great idea for a date! Catch a movie and then come over for some cheap drinks and a bite to eat.
BE: That’s the idea. We open our kitchen in a month and will have a pizza and sub style menu perfect for a lunch or dinner crowd. Our first priority is to cater to our customers. We want to ensure them a good time from the second they’re greeted at the door, to the time the go to the bar for a drink, or the DJ for a song request. It is all about them and their experience.

RP Fact: Divine is also here for all of your party, fundraising and Greek event needs. Contact them for further information at (775) 324-9977 or www.divinereno.com. Divine is located at 95 N. Sierra Street #101 next to the Riverside movie theaters.
