Reno Car Share Program

Reno Passport is reaching out again to solicit interest in starting up a Car Share program in Reno. The Project will require a centralized parking area, insurance, and scheduling software. Does anyone know where to start with this?  Here is what they are doing in Berkeley, CA and at Zip Car.

I propose we try to set a date for a meeting in downtown Reno to discuss the project. Please respond to steve@renopassport.com if you would like to contribute to this cause in any way.

I don’t want my car most of the time, I see it as a liability, but enjoy using it at times. I want other people to be able to use it when I am not.

• Anyone know how the insurance would work on something like this? What companies will insure this type of program?

• Anyone know if there is grant money available for something like this?
• What kind of cheap scheduling software is out there?
• Where would we put the parking lot for the cars?

It will make it easier for us all to get through the economic crunch if we band together and reduce our overhead.
