Reno Events BBQ, Brews and Blues Fest Eldorado Resort

This annual festival features great food, cool brews and smokin’ rock and blues. Two large stages are set up in the middle of downtown and will host live blues, rock, jazz and Latin musical styles. For a small nominal fee, you get a small beer mug and a stack of wooden beer tokens that you can take to any of the beer tasting booths along Virginia Street.

Featured blues artists include Tutu Jones, Elvin Bishop, Shane Dwight Band, James Cotton, Donna Lynn, Buddy Elmer, Lavay Smith & Her Red Hot Skillet Lickers, and Red Beans and Rice. The Tito Puente Jr. Orchestra will also perform bringing a Latin jazz flavor to the event. All music acts are free to the public.

A selection of microbrews will be on tap along with creations from the region’s best breweries including the Lagunitas Brewing Co., Butte Creek Brewing, Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing, Brew Brothers, Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., and about 30 others. Most vendors pour above the “taster” line indicated on your mug. Keep an eye out for people leaving the event, as they will usually give you their leftover tokens. Take public transit or plan on a cab, as you will be somewhat swilly after this event.

RP Picks: Shane Dwight Band; Lavay Smith; and James Cotton.
