The Doll House

The Doll House, among Reno’s newest boutiques, opened in May but owner Jeanne Dugan is no novice when it comes to fashion. She’s been designing exotic dancewear, lingerie and bikinis for many years under the label “Pretty Kitty,” a name she originally intended to call her store. As the space developed, Jeanne noted resemblance to the inside of a doll house. With pink and white damask wallpaper, shelves of sexy shoes, and lovely garments adorning racks, it truly does feel like a dollhouse. Even the mannequins are like life sized dolls, bedecked in feminine attire. Jeanne describes the Doll House as “a place to play dress up.”
About 20% of the store merchandise is made by Jeanne. Clientele can custom order fashions, selecting materials from the sewing room in the back of the boutique, where shelves overflow with colorful choices. Anticipate risqué Halloween costumes throughout the month of October.
The Doll House stands out from multitudes of Reno boutiques as a classy, comfortable shop where all dresses, dancewear and custom-made articles are unique. One needn’t worry about encountering somebody else dolled out in the same outfit. As Jeanne says, “it’s too small of a town for that.” Those entering the Doll House may be prone to unusual flights of girlish fancy- proof that you’re never too old to enjoy playing dress-up.
