Scruples Unplugged Celebrates Ninth Year
The Best Bands from Northern Nevada and Beyond:
New This Year: Young Artists Showcase
It’s a free for all at the ninth edition of Scruples Unplugged; northern Nevada’s longest running local band series. New this year for the acoustic extravaganza will be three young artist showcases as well as six new bands.
Each show will be presented in the intimate Scruples Patio. The limited seating venue brings 101 fans up close in a unique acoustic presentation. Headliner shows begin at 8 p.m. and Scruples Unplugged Junior runs from 6 to 8 p.m. Pick up your free tickets at Scruples Bar & Grill, 91 W. Plumb Lane, Reno, NV. Each concert will feature drink and food specials. This year’s sponsors include Reno Passport, Budweiser and Jägermeister.
Scruples Unplugged Junior is project coordinated by local music teaches and songwriters Leisa Golding and Eric Strangeland.
“We felt that it would be great to have a venue where the kids could get up and play in front of an audience, family, friends, strangers, to help them in refining their art,” Golding said. “This year, the kids don’t have to play originals, but obviously, we will love it if they do!
The young artist groups range from solo guitarists and keyboardists to small groups, she said.
