SIX BANDS TAKE THE STAGE FOR ANGEL KISS FOUNDATION’S 5TH ANNUAL PADDLE FOR PEDIATRIC CANCER JUNE 20

Grammy-nominated Trey Stone headlines charity event schedule in Wingfield Park

Angel Kiss Foundation presents the 5th annual Paddle for Pediatric Cancer, Saturday, June 20 in Wingfield Park. Featuring a full line up of free music in the park, Paddle for Pediatric Cancer brings Grammy-nominated soul music pioneer Trey Stone to the stage along with Kate Cotter, Tim Snider of Sol Jibe accompanied by instrumentalist Milton Merlos, James Cavanaugh & the Charm of Hugo, Bad Neighbors and The Stately Gentlemen, beginning at 11 a.m. and continuing until 5:30 p.m. Between sets, event-goers can also enjoy entertainment from local comic, Rowie and other special guests.

Registration for the raft race portion of the event is now open online at www.AngelKissFoundation.org and on-site registration begins at 9 a.m. in Wingfield Park on June 20. The day also includes food from a variety of tempting vendors including Black Rock Pizza, Blind Dog Coffee, Great Basin Brewery, Rick’s Shaved Ice and Vista Grille and fun and exciting raffle prizes are also available at the “Garden of Hope.”

The following is the schedule of music and events for the 2009 Paddle for Pediatric Cancer event June 20:

9 a.m.: On-site registration opens at Wingfield Park

11 a.m. – Kate Cotter: Kate Cotter brings her melodic, hypnotic folk songs to the stage at Wingfield Park just in time for paddlers to hit the water in the 5th annual Paddle for Pediatric Cancer Raft and Tube Race.

11:30 a.m.: Paddle for Pediatric Cancer Raft and Tube Race begins from Crissy Caughlin Park

12:05 p.m. – Tim Snider and Milton Merlos:

Tim Snider, best-known for his work with funky, instrumental group Sol Jibe, takes the stage with Milton Merlos on flamenco guitar and electric violin.  The two men get the party started in Wingfield Park just in time for crowds to enjoy lunch from one of the event’s tasty food vendors.

1:10 p.m. – James Cavanaugh & the Charm of Hugo:

On the heels of “The Charm of Hugo” album release in 2008, James Cavanaugh & The Charm of Hugo features Gary Kephart on bass, Steve Hatley on keys, Lacey Mattison on background vocals and Rich Washburn on drums, all keeping paddlers entertained as teams pull into the Park after the race.


2:15 p.m. – Bad Neighbors:

A local five-man band, Bad Neighbors presents classic Country and Rock n’ Roll to revelers in Wingfield Park.

3:20 p.m. – The Stately Gentlemen:

This four-year-old Reno-born band is known for its fun yet laid back Americana style. The Stately Gentlemen are a local staple, performing at bars and shows throughout the area, injecting a little extra style into its homegrown sound.

4:25 p.m. – Trey Stone: As a Grammy-nominated multi-instrumental Soul music pioneer, Trey Stone has worked with world-renowned artists such as George Clinton, BB King and David Sanborn and has made appearances on MTV and “Saturday Night Live.” Stone is best known for the hits “At the Carwash” and the Gold-record-earning “Kissing You.” Most recently, Stone received stellar reviews while touring with the band Tower of Power.

Originally founded in 1990, Angel Kiss Foundation (AKF) is a 501(c)3  non-profit organization dedicated to helping families battling childhood cancer by providing financial, educational and emotional assistance. AKF provides financial aid for a variety of expenses related to treatment including medical expenses, insurance deductibles, uncovered procedures, household living costs, food, utilities and travel expenses. Additionally, AKF’s Connecting Families program provides hope, education and emotional support to families through monthly activities and group meetings.
