Fritz’s Grill & Bar
Back to School
From the clubs downtown to my favorite swanky restaurants – and everywhere in between – I think I spent a life’s savings over the past five years on top-shelf cocktails in itty bitty martini glasses. While it’s difficult for me to turn down an extra dirty Grey Goose (blue cheese-stuffed olives are always a plus), I can easily say ‘no’ to the $50-$100 tab I’ll see at the end of a night out on the town. That’s why I nearly kissed the bartender at Fritz’s Bar & Grill when he told me I owed him $5 for the 25-ounce cocktail he poured me two Fridays ago. Times are tough but Friday nights don’t have to be.

I was in school long enough to see the Fritz’s building previously inhabited by multiple businesses. Located across from the University of Nevada, Reno on the west side of Virginia Street, it’s been everything but a thriving business – that is until Fritz’s came along. Fritz’s is easy. It’s not haughty or pretentious. It’s not filled with women who drink their dinner or the skeezes who hit on them. It’s filled with cool kids, old high school buddies and fabulous drink specials. Bring your own mug, and they’ll keep it on their shrine-o-mugs for ya. Cheers!
