Wild River Grille Announces New Expanded Location

After two years of making a splash on the river, owner Chuck Shapiro is doing it again…

Business in Downtown Reno is thriving for riverfront restaurant Wild River Grille as owner Chuck Shapiro announces plans for an expanded location set to open in March of 2010. The downtown favorite known for its creative cuisine, extensive wine list and expansive patio, will double in size within its current Riverside Artist Lofts location to include the Virginia Street frontage.

Located right on the Riverwalk in downtown Reno, the Wild River Grille has been serving up bold, innovative cuisine and delicious libations for two years. The venue, formerly the famous and historic Riverside Hotel, has a rich tradition of music, entertainment and exceptional hospitality.

“Since 2007, we have been a proud part of the urban renewal now going on in Reno” said proprietor Chuck Shapiro. “Our patrons enjoy a place where they can meet up with friends to enjoy great food and drink, while celebrating the art and music renaissance of the Riverwalk. We are excited to offer a larger space for dining, entertainment and relaxation”

The Wild River Grille is a supporter of the arts in the downtown including the theatre district. As a sponsor of the “Broadway Comes to Reno” series, the Bruka theatre, Sierra Arts and others, they have seen great support from the people who attend shows downtown. The spot has become a favorite for visitors to the area as well.

The expansion will feature even more fresh culinary creations, fine wine and cocktail options then before, according to Shapiro, including expanded hours with coffee and morning fare, but the atmosphere will be casual, fun and eclectic.

The new operation will more than double the interior space and employ up to 60 people during peak season, creating about 20 new jobs, Shapiro said. Remodeling and renovation will take place over the winter and the décor will feature local art while celebrating the history and significance of the site.

The building, a Frederick DeLongchamps design and on the National Historic Register, was saved from demolition and renovated in 2000 by the City and Artspace Projects of Minneapolis, MN to create live/workspace for local artists. “We are delighted that the Wild River Grille has decided to expand into the space,” said Will Law, Chief Executive Officer of Artspace. “We see them as an ideal fit for the building.”

All in all – the Wild River Grille is set to make another splash in Reno, next spring.
